Sex workers are able to take care of themselves till they are young & salable. They have to pay large amount of money to stay in the brothels. They can't save money as all their hard-earned money goes to pockets of moneylenders, gharwalis, to whom they owe money. Even their regular partners take away their money by emotionally blackmailing them. They become poor victims of the parasites of the society, which lives around them.
When they become old, their life becomes more miserable. They don't have food to eat & money to spend. They live on roads & literally become beggars. And eventually they die on roadside. Even their death is not peaceful. In case any SW contracts any disease there is nobody to take his or her care. Infact she is thrown out of the brothel.
The DIDIs themselves have repeatedly requested SAI to provide a SHELTER for such destitutes, where they can stay when they are sick & when they become old. They would themselves take care of the sick and dying.
We are trying our level best to build a shelter place for them & the work is in progress by God's grace. This shelter is the dream project conceived by our DIDIs and named as 'APNALAY'.
