Many people today, in spite of availability of free anti-tubercular drug at government hospitals, are still not able to avail the benefits. The reasons behind this are ignorance & facilities not available in nearby areas & misconceptions about T.B. Hence the compliance of the patients is also affected. All these together with the stigma associated with T.B. results in non-treatment of positive cases or increase in default & relapse rate.

SAI has been spearheading the crusade of basic health care & HIV prevention &treatment. SAI has an ocean of experienced in the field of medical care & support in 'E' ward, especially the red light area.

One seeing the hard work of SAI, Inter Aide was impressed and proposed a partnership in implementation of RNTCP. (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme). RNTCP includes supplementing the urban Dots project in those for off pockets. It is another feather in SAI's cap, to starts with the RNTCP.

SAI has now taken up the cause of T.B. by spreading awareness & education campaign for timely and adequate treatment of T.B. to be given to each and every citizen of that area. Its main target involves information, education & communication about the devil of T.B. It would involve supplementing the programme with additional sputum collection centers, microscopy centers, or health posts, involving local infrastructure like private practitioners, local mitra mandals, etc.

Thus SAI's work is growing by leaps and bounds.
