Home   » Our Projects   » DROP-IN CENTER DROP-IN CENTER for very poor people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) In our Drop In Center, Poor People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLHA) come with their problems of any kind with a faith that their problem will be solved and we try our level best to solve their problem. There are people who have to struggle hard for one square meal daily, they have no financial security and live on daily wages. Once they unfortunately get affect by HIV or T.B. the morbidity associated does not allow them to work & hence can’t get food, leave apart the costly medicines. DIC plays an important role to improve their quality of life and survival. SAI provides totally free medical-health services as follows: We give them mental support and all kind of counseling services. Medical Investigations is done free of cost for e.g. x-ray, usg, blood and urine investigations Costly investigations like CD4 and viral load are done for all PLHAs at regular intervals. We give them proper medical treatment that includes basic health care, Anti-tubercular treatment, treatment for sexually transmitted diseases & Antiretroviral therapy. All this treatment is given continuously through out life with proper follow-up. Sometimes we refer patients to government or municipal hospitals who need to get admitted or for surgery or for other reasons. We take a monthly meeting of all the DIC patients. The monthly meeting of PLHAs is aimed to provide a platform for all the PLHAs to discuss their problems, give emotional support, form self help groups among themselves, give information on general topics like health, hygiene, nutrition etc. We also do routine surveillance of patients on a regular basis. All this needs to be done continuously or else it will be like showing a mirage in desert.
