Many young girls due to ignorance are unaware about HIV/AIDS & have a blind faith that they will never get it! ‘Nothing has happened to me till date & hence nothing will happen in future’ is the common phrase among them. Even if they get the disease then what’s the big deal, anyways we are all going to die of some disease or the other. Then why fear it? Even if their blood tests come positive they simply laugh & say, 'I don't fear anything & I don't want any medicines!'
All these young women need many hours of counseling repeatedly. Through our DIDI- VCT project we help them in their needs & thus gain their confidence. After years of building a rapport now this attitude has changed a lot, by convincing them that if their health is good then only their families & children will survive. |
